One of the fun things about photographing the same people as they update their headshots over time is seeing the changes in their look over the years. Changes in hairstyle and color in particular can be so big that an individual is unrecognizable to a person who’s only met them briefly in the past—or someone who’s only seen their old headshot.
It’s a great idea to begin building trust by showing headshots of your team on your website and social channels. One of our long-time clients, Hamburg Family Dental, uses this approach to help their patients feel more comfortable before they even enter the office. Dentistry is an industry surrounded by the cloud of discomfort. Introducing your care providers ahead of time, showing that they are real and caring people, can ease that discomfort.
A few years ago, we photographed the whole team at Hamburg Family Dental. Recently, we were back again to provide headshots for new team members and updates for some existing team members.
One of the team members, Eimy, had changed her hair so much since the last photoshoot that we didn’t even recognize her! It was definitely time for an update.
If you’re a person who likes to change your hair, makeup, or style of accessories and clothes a lot, it may seem challenging to keep on top of your headshot. It’s generally recommended that you update your headshot every two years, though even that can feel like a lot.
The benefits are high of being recognizable in person from your photo, especially when people may see you first online and only later in person.
