Berks Community Health Center recently honored community leader Pat Giles with the health center’s Civitas Award at the fourth annual “Picture Berks Healthy,” its signature awareness and fundraising event. BCHC’s mission is to improve access and the health of the community through the delivery of coordinated comprehensive services for all residents of Berks County regardless of their economic status.
A leader in the Reading-Berks health community
BCHC described Pat as providing “volunteer and professional leadership to community nonprofit organizations that improve the quality of life for Berks County residents for the past 45 years.” She was part of the community group that identified the need for this health center, and she participated in the planning and implementation needed to officially establish BCHC in 2012. She served as an Advisory Council and Governance Committee member in its early years. In 2017 she was elected to the Board of Directors, and served as Board Chair for four years, as well as serving on various committees at different periods throughout the years. She currently serves as a member of the Governance and Strategic Planning committees.
