Earlier this year we got to meet JR Gieringer, who came in to the Berks Headshots studio for an employee headshot. He had recently been hired to a top sales position and needed a new photo. The company then used his headshot to introduce him in press releases and social posts.

Headshots are a great tool for companies to use to give a human face to their business. Whether you’re introducing new employees to current clients, or you routinely use social media to introduce your staff to the general public, keeping the human faces of your company front and center is an important strategy in making connections.
Where to use employee headshots
Headshots on your “About” page for online businesses
No matter what industry your company is part of, you can benefit from employee headshots. One of the easiest ways to connect faces to names is your website’s “about” page. You may be trying to draw in clients to a business that requires a high level of trust, like financial or legal services. Or maybe you do most of your business remotely and you want the people you are contacting online and over the phone to feel comfortable speaking with your employees—sharing photos of your team reassures people that they are speaking with actual people.

Employee headshots on social posts
Does your company recognize employees regularly for the great job they’re doing? When you want to celebrate someone going above and beyond, share a photo of them (and one that they actually like) along with the words about them. As people scroll through social media feeds, seeing a photo of someone they recognize is going to draw more attention than simply writing a paragraph, giving more people the opportunity to celebrate them (and interact with your social account).

Employee headshots for in-person services
Businesses that book in-person services online or over the phone can benefit from employee headshots. Your business may offer in-home services, like plumbing or HVAC repair, or in-home health care. When someone is looking for a provider, they’ll be reassured about who they are allowing into their home just by being able to see the face of the person before they arrive. When the person gets to their home and looks like their headshot, the client’s level of trust increases.
No matter what the use you have in mind for your employee headshots, they need to look professional and they need to be high-quality in order to truly generate client trust. A blurry or poorly-lighted photo, or one that turns out to be ten years out of date, is almost worse than no photo at all. It gives the appearance of not really putting in the appropriate effort on something simple—not a good look. Your employees deserve to shine as individuals, and when they do, the whole company looks better!
